if you hate the Beatles then no need to comment lol

at the Cavern yesterday, one thing that frustrated me there were bands from all over the world and they all seemed to relish playing lesser known tunes, in some ways i can see why, but after a couple of hours, we were just aching to hear A Hard Days Night, All My Loving etc etc, after a while got a little frustrating

asked my other half and 3 or 4 of our friends the went to Liverpool with us who their favourite Beatles member is, without any pause for thought, including myself, they all answered

George Harrison

i thought this was really cool

i know its the cliche but its always gonna be lennon for me pal. just love all the rubber soul/revolver stuff he came up with. at that time it seemed his writing was a reaction to his early stuff and really trying to break the mould of three chords and writing the words "i love you" in different combinations. harrison is a close second though. for his time his guitar playing is simply stunning on nearly every track.

I think George Harrison is in general by todays music nutters quite underrated!
It cant be denied that in his day he was incredibly innovative!

another thing, i love the beatles long before i started playing guitar and understanding stuff about music. but going back and listening to all those old songs the thing that stands out the most is how on earth did paul mccartney play those basslines as well as sing! some of them are truly staggering. check what he plays in "all my loving" i dont think he actually stops on one note for more than a second!

Paul McCartney just edges out the other Beatles, as my own personal favourite. His song writing, guitar playing, piano playing, amazing singing, and his melodic basslines make him number one in my book... As Mr Fix states, "All My Loving" is a fine example of his ability to play a busy bass part whilst singing at the same time. He used to record the bass parts LAST on many songs, so that the could create the most suitable bass line for each tune.

John Lennon's my fave Beatle (despite being a bit of a nob by all accounts)... I think Paul McCartney has more musical talent, but John's stuff came from somewhere else entirely... instinct and something like genius I think

George was the coolest Beatle tho... best haircut, seemed to realise being a Beatle wasn't especially good for your soul before the others did... also had by far the best sense of humour

as a bass player, have to give credit to Paul for his work... Sgt Pepper is a bass masterclass... if anyone wanted to learn how to play bass in a pop/rock group, it's all there

No comment it is then. I don't hate them really. George was by far the coolest.
