Not as bad as expected

First off thanks to Marc from Anthem for popping in for a bit! :o)

OK, this isn't a BAD gig. Peter the Landlord gave us a choice of where to set up and we opted for the corner near the ladies. We ran power from 2 separate sockets and kept the lights as isolated as we could to keep hum down. The only hum we got was from the 2 guitar backline amps when on gain channels, and it was easily manageable. The rest was quiet. Soundchecked and got a reasonable good sound. Quieter that what we're used to, but the gig dictates the volume, not the band.

We decided to go on at 9 and through til 11 with no break, as the noise dibble were supposed to be around, but no sign, so one of the bar girls asked for a few more, and we did them.

Punters were quite subdued for the first few songs but seemed to get into it the further into the set we got. Even had a short conga line going in the end.

The singer got the pay (£200 & some free ale) and when I went to find Peter to get a list of confirmed bands he was nowhere to be seen so apologies for that folks.

If you are playing there soon definitely go in from the TOP end of Leyland as the roadworks are a fuck-over.

hi Mick that sounds very similar to our experience at the gig there (apart from the noise policy bit obviously) yeah we had a little bit of mains noises but once playing was manageable, and likewise the crowd got into it more later once warmed up

Comes from doing plenty of venues over the years Chris. We try to keep the PA/Lights/Backline on seperate power points. It's amazing how many places buzz like that game Operation when the lights are on the same power strip as the PA.

yeah, you gotta keep the lights seperate or your asking for it,fair play to you by the way, doing the gig smothered in a cold and being tesco drug induced hahaha

No worries Pete. We had a few of our regulars and we usually grab the crowd by the throat anyway. ;o)

apologies for not staying longer but I was VERY impressed with what I heard. Guitar a little quiet on solos but a very very good sound on the whole and didn't notice any mains buzz. Catch you guys again for the duration next time
