not gone well...at all.

hmmmmmmpphhhhh.

I am very dissapointed, but I have decided to pack in with the Thonder/Thunder lads I have been rehersing with for the past 10 weeks.

Due mainly to Drummer problems we have not been progressing much recently....but now the drummer is sorted out other problems have arisen....The major one for me is the de-tuning malarky....I don't mind drop tuning a couple of steps to help vocals out....but even after us doing that for ALL songs they now want to drop half the stuff even further....down as far as 'B' ....Meaning I have to either buy a 5 string or play the stuff so far up the neck it sounds total cwap. Coupled to this they started dropping some choruses....and some actual Notes from some of the most popular songs as they were 'difficult' to sing.

I think the lads are a great bunch....but I just can't see it working out as a quality Thunder TRIBUTE.....I think that with all the changes it will become more of a covers band doing some thunder sound-alikes........and that's not what I want :(

So....Back to the drawing board.......unless there is any one here wishes to start/join a Proper Tribute?.....(It would be a shame not to make use of all the help I received with the band name ;)....)

sounds like the Danny Bowes is not up to the task, any dropping songs more than a tone is not good enough, i think a semitone is enough before the songs really start to sound every different indeed

You can get away with up to a tone down but agreed any more than that and they just don't sound right.

Sorry it didn't work out matey and best of luck with starting a new Thunder trib.

aye its great stuff to play but after personally playing "Love Walked In" to a generic audience I find it lost on them. You'd have to seriously hit the Trib scene to make this work. Thunder were good but not as popular as Lizzy/Ac-Dc/Sabbs/Metallica etc..
Personally I always dream of being in a Journey trib but I can't find the singer.

You should do what Pete Barton does - find an original roadie for Thunder, recruit him and go out as Thunder and Friends! You can then add an extra "0" onto your fee!

What level do you need to be at to warrant a tribute band. Just spotted a ban called 'the scripted'. A script trib band already?

Hard to say exactly what level you need to be...we all have slightly different ideas I suppose. But for me, a tribute must play the stuff Accurately...as in copying the lead riffs, using the same bass lines/drum beats etc as the originals whilst also putting on a bit of a show of looking and acting a bit like the original band members.

In other words, mimicing the original band/music as much as possible.

Agree totally with the post above.

Our aim is to make the crowd suspend their belief and think they are listening and watching a Genesis / Phil gig.

I applaud your intent sir. ;-)

Best wishes with it

John
