Review of The Ridgeway Arms

I'm not gonna mince my words about this place!

Did not enjoy this gig at all!

This place is "CHAV" Heaven!
[I hate to say this because there were actually some decent folk about in there!]
but the majority of them were lowest form of human exsistance I have encountered at anywhere other than a Football match!

They were tossing and swinging chairs about with no regard for anyones safety
They for some matcho reason see fit to strip down to just there trousers?
They bounded about the stage with absolutely no regard for our gear?
one of them grabbed the mic to join in the singing? bless him!
another one got so excited during the solo to "you shook me all night long" that he bounced up on the stage to [I think] give me a hug! and nocked the guitar clean out of my hands [in the middle of the solo!!!]
another one decided to do a back flip off the Stage, knocking one of the monitors that went rolling off the stage and he landed with a crack on his back on the edge of the stage!
During one song I turned around to find one of them trying to grab my PRS 513 to presumable use as an air guitar?
Our drummer had to let one of them have bang crash whollop on his drums to in an effort to keep the peace?
They were so over excitable that at one point we decided to do "Kayliegh" to calm things down [we usually save that one for the girlie pubs] it worked! for about 5 mins! then as soon as we played anything with a bit of gusto, they were off again like a pack of looneys on day release from the local nutty farm!

The thing that annoys me most about all this is that the landlord stood there letting it all happen?

We had near on 20k's worth of gear on that stage and he did sod all to stop them raising havoc and running a muck all over the place with chairs ,tables and anything else they could get there hands on?
Packing up was dodgy as well!
had to keep one of us with the gear all the time and there were still a couple of them dancing round us on the stage while we were trying to pack up?

Needless to say I'm not looking to rebook at this place untill the present landlord is replaced!
Which probably wont be long ? the looneys will probably burn it down soon?

"So who's on here next week"

whoever you are I wish you all the luck in the world that the local Chav's are locked in a cell some where while your playing?

it wasn't that we did'nt go down well, cause strange as it may seem they seem to bloody love it despite every other word out their mouths was asking for [you guessed it] "OASIS"

The problem at this place is'nt so much the people as the landlords un-willingness to stop there violent antics?
In fact he never even came out from behind the bar?

One of he Chavs said outside "I'm barred from here but I'm not as bad as that lot" ???????
He was barred but still going in there???????

I cant help thinking if it had been a band playing younger stuff like "The Fix" etc., they would have completely lost it and trashed the place?

They were all locals known to the normal people in there as the idiots!, so I dont think it was a one off!
but like I say, it's the landlords fault for letting it happen!
The first wave of normal people left when the looneys kicked off and then later we got some more [normals] in who stayed but kept to the far end of the bar like penned in sheep, they were taking pictures and video's but from a distance!

Good Luck Rick!
If anything else comes up before next week I'll give you a shout!

Oh bugger!
They're gonna love a Coldplay tribute!
better take some chicken wire or better still some barbed wire! ha ha!
The problem is, the more they like you the nuttier they go!
so for gods sake dont do any Oasis covers! they'll go mental!

Hi G. Sounds like a bad one. You can get em anywhere but you would expect the landlord to sort em out. Gear isn't cheap and even if nothing gets damaged it can ruin things for the band and the normal punters. Looking forward to your Weavers gig anyway, see ya there.

Hi Slayer
We still got the usual acclaim from the normal folk as they could see what was goin on!
But it was hard work keeping it going with yours eyes peeled on what was gonna happen next but trying not look so as not to show any kind of encouragement to them?
I suppose after a few hundred gigs your bound to get one of these!
but dont think I wanna repeat of it?
Back at Fleetwood next week! worse that can happen there is you get battered with fish???

Anyone got a contact number for this venue? After reading this review I really don't want to do it now.

Contact number is 07895 918271. The landlord is Paul.

Now how you feel, I'm thinking along the same lines with the booking I have for Flashback.
Seems 'duty of care' does not apply at this venue.

I'd do it with a Roadhouse movie cage and loads of catalogue equipment.. Nah serious.. I prefer to look forward to a gig not dreading it, we're gonna swerve it so 21st November should be up for grabs soon if anyone dares to enter the pub of death..
