...Rock Radio has gone all 'pants'

Goodness me can't wait for Steve Bury to come back RR has turned into radio 4!! The voice over guy's still funny though..

Just wish Planet Rock was on national FM network...much much much better playlist.

I stopped listening to "whatever we decide to call rock" radio a few weeks ago when they followed Joe Jackson with something else non-rocklike (Pretenders?)

Yes Steve, ...Tommy Boyd ( ex Magpie presenter) used to do Talk Radio with the a late nite phone ins ...he does tend to be antagonistic and too aggressive for a morning show ....sounds like that Jeremy Kyle bloke ..another bitter person who thinks the world owe them more ............... oh btw its Steve Berry from Bury !!!
think i'll set the DAB alarm for Planet Rock in morning too..

Ahh so its not just me who thought RR had been taken over by an 80's soft rock/pop army. I like listening to Steve, Mike & co but the music recently has been dire...not dire straits I mean proper shite.

Actually D.J. is an acronym for Disc Jockey i.e. Jockeying discs around to play, line up, etc.. but they only push BUTTONS now.SOOOOO in the current state of a change of job title's that have happened over the years...
I suggest they are called.. BUTTON JOCKEY'S as most of the playlist is on a hard disc so no DISC JOCKEYING. Just button's to push!
Therefore and hitherto they shall be called B.J's !!!
Which is apt for Mr 'Magpie, bee in my bonnet since I lost me curly locks' Boydd... as he quite literally SUCKS!

I feel much better now!!

I agree. It's got to the point where I feel like Alexei Sayle's telling me to buy bike insurance between verses now.
Some nights I drive home from work and not get to hear a single tune.

granted the manchester rock radio is pish, the scottish one is marginally better only because Tom Russell does the morning show and his original friday night rock show. He is a superstar in glasgow because the guy is a genuine heavy rock fan and that shows in his shows. From what I've heard from the manchester version, it's a far more diluted version looking to cater for the sort of "rock" fans that buy these god awful "dad rock" cd's that come out every fathers day lol

I prefer to listen to "no sh1te just metal radio" on 106.7 (my i-trip frequency lol)

I think it comes in waves. Some weeks it seems alright, others it's awful, I agree that it's on the wane a bit but maybe everyone's used to it? All stations start off great and end up rubbish, look what's happened to BBC Radio 6 and Revolution FM in Oldham.

No DAB radio where I work, so it's a choice between Galaxy, Radio 1 and 2,(terry wogan or chris moyles, anyone?)Key 103 or Rock Radio, only one of them play Metallica, Motorhead, Rush, Thin Lizzy, Sex Pistols, The Clash etc. They do have some wishy washy stuff inbetween and some DJ waffle but it's a big step up from any of the alternatives on FM.

Rock Radio - great variety but can't be played in windows media player without copy/paste hassle.

Planet Rock - suffers from playlist syndrome (Pearl Jam/Europe currently on repeat)

but both miles better than the rest

@ steelfield-"but both miles better than the rest"
think you got to the crux of it there-given that r r DOES play some cracking tunes, albeit in small doses, most of what they play CAN be listened to without feeling poorly? all i can say is-i do NOT want to go back to galaxy fm or key 103 or suchlike at work-EVER!! ;-0

Actually:
Listened to him this morning he was all serious and that as a recent discovery that an 'household' substnace can cause LSD Hallucinatory effects. I thought oh he's seen the light, decided to 'interest' people... and decided to not be a richard head.
Then approx 9:10 spoke about 'the mental condition' those people who slag him off are suffering from!! One the attributes being not being particularly well endowed!! How did they find that out!!!

It's obvious he is baltantly tryin to boost listener figures through
"Controversy"...it works!!

"..........wasnt the syndrome to do with people posting blogs like this mate .... ha ..!!!!"

No he described at as someone appearing on a forum telling everyone to f-off and then not posting again... and having a smallish willy.

"did we find out the 'substance' ???? or will we see it plastered all over the front page of the Sun 2moz !!!!"

Don't know ?? Obviously it has to be something that you would not usually digest, not in the medicine cabinet and is present in more than 50% of homes...

from what i understood he was having a dig at those people (we've all seen them) who post threatening, abusive and offensive comments all over the net (other people's blogs, you tube, photobucket etc) for no apparent reason, using a pseudonym to hide behind or send in personally abusive texts to the station presenters or the people who phone in and, apparently, become so angry that they threaten to "come to the station and "sort it out"". also-i would think it most likely that he follows a "script" set down by the editorial staff at the station, interpreting it as the show goes on-at any time he could be "unplugged" if the producer didn't approve of what he was doing? as for excess chatter-slayer and myself have listened all week-he didn't seem to use up any more time for chatter than berry-was just more abrasive with some of idiots who sent texts or phoned in (and some of them ARE morons!!) the music/talk balance was about the same, we thought.
the hallucinogenic thingy was, apparently, something his wife had heard at a seminar the day before.
i stick to my previous observation-after the other dross we've had to listen to , rock radio is heaven!! today, for example, we had zep, ac/dc, lizzy, maiden, plus many more.:-)
end of rant!! :-D
