Hi Paul,

How long will it be before the new NWB is up and running?
Can you include hosting of a 'Play Pen' area, separate to the main blog?
It may be worth checking if people prefer the forum format to the blog format.

Cheers,
Ian

They'll possibly be a forum.

Had a look at the new http://instantasp.co.uk/ forum software, that integrates with the some authentication system as NWB. So in essence, when you log into NWB, you'll auto log into the forum.. So no need to sign up again, or different passwords.

It's not cheap.. so Im hoping to use some of the donation money on it.

Hi Paul, few ideas:

1) The main image at the top would be good if it was scrolling sideways with different pictures of bands so that more bands could get seen on the home page

2)A band/venue review section (maybe this wouldnt go on homepage but at least somewhere on the site so that we know which venues are cancelling / bands not turning up etc.

3) A 'whats on this week' section - a random selection from the gig list for upcoming gigs

Paul - Check out www.phpbb.com and the support / tech forum there.

I understand about the desirability of a single sign-on - it may be that the free download will still do all that you want and the support forum on there is pretty good.

Cheers,
Ian

a forum would be the big take off for this site, but it does take some management and then some webspace - all costs money - maybe a membership fee to go towards the hosting would help.

The temp forum I have set up hasn't cost anything at all.
It is in webspace provided by my ISP. It can be done cheaply.

It just depends whether Paul wants to go to the expense to make a single sign-on work or whether it's good enough with people registering and setting their PC to remember their password.

On a small scale yes it is free. However, NWB is quite large, and I have to think about bandwidth usage, backup procedures, and administration.

You wouldnt want me lose all your PMs and gigguide info would you? :-)
