The event happening in Rochdale today has brought it all back!

Thanks Mike for letting us know about the Music celebration thing going on in Rochdale, I would otherwise not have known about it!
But looking through the links took me to the pages about Deeply Vale and the memories came flooding back but boy it does make you feel old when you look at the date it happened?
So was wondering who else was there who's on here?
Admitting you were there is a bit of a givaway to your age but sod it I loved it!
In fact I still have the mirrors that were on sale there! for some reason [that I cant remember now] I bought both the large one and the small one and still have them both after 30+ years!
I looked throgh all the pics on the website to see if I could spot myself but could'nt,although I remembered so much more looking at them, the teepee's,where our tent was, the vehicles that where around us tents, the MUD!!! and so many faces I can no longer put a name to ? sigh!

I remember watching "Steve Hillage" and "here and now" oh and "Tony Wilson" was there!

where you there?

what do you remember? [apart from the mud?]

I suppose it's a case of "if you remember it you weren't there"
I vaguely remember Gong's appearance but only cause I thought they were crap! ha ha!
can you rememeber were your tent was pitched in relation to the stage and the teepee's on the right if you were facing the stage?

I was there in 1977 - the year before you guys are talking about - playing with Mudanzas. we played late afternoon/early evening and all I remember is: the steps to the stage then a sea of faces & one of the keyboards going out of tune because of the fluctuating generator power. after the gig we found some beer, walked down thru the stalls, bought "cake" and watched some bands (Tony Crabtree, Body) and then someone took me home. Happy Daze!!

Yes Mike!
Tony Crabtree!!! that guy was a god on the guitar!
he could play hendrix stuff and make it sound clean?
Was stunned to hear of his death [found out on a story I read on the internet!] he w2as just as awsome when playing an acoustic!
The first time I saw him play I thought "sod it" and I never played again for years! ha ha!

hi G, Tony was an amazing piano player too. another drinking casualty.... saw him quite a few times and got to know him as a friend...funny guy too.
you need to hear "kenny with a kicking K" on the "It Started In Rochdale CD". a spoken word tale from Tony. dead funny!!

Tony had a contract with Virgin and a single out - band name Cry - but it all went wrong...manager rip-offs I think and Virgin demanded the advance back.

on a slightly more pessimistic note-it was just a shame the farm implement people decided to claim it as their own?? was a real community project when it first started. :-)

dont know, your probably right, watched them loads of times live though, and chimp eats banana who went on to become chumbawumba, played in bands with members from both bands as i got older and became mates with most of them, its a small world.

especially burnley, sage the guitarist from the notsensibles is a doctor now, never thought i would be going on the piss with a doctor hahahaha
they had a comeback a couple of year back, then they hated each other again then split.

Sounds like yer typical band relationships!
although after a few years they normally mellow and pretend to like each other?

this is where we all used to go on a friday night when i was 16, it was in nelson and we used to walk along the m65 as they were still building the motrorway, so we would walk from burnley to nelson on the unbuilt m65,now thats dedication haahaha

Dont know of that place?
But I do know the effin M65!!
I bloody hate that road!
going up it to the Nelson and colne gigs is a real long drag up the never ending long and winding road?
that's why I always quote JC Clarke [Idonteverwnnagoterburnleywhattheydoinburnleyd...]
