Saturday was my birthday. I like birthdays. It's the one night of the year when I get more pished than any other night. But not even copious amounts of alcohol could stop me from enjoying this gig. Smokin Monkey delivered two fantastic sets of classic rock and punk anthems to a responsive crowd.
SM are a four piece band; vocals, guitar, bass and drums although if you saw them, you'd swear they were hiding a second guitarist somewhere! These guys have a massive following around Blackpool. They always turn up with 50+ punters from the reviews and photos I've heard and seen. And now I know why. They are crowd pleasers, plain and simple.
The highlight for me was a fantastic version of Rock n Roll by Led Zepplin. Other covers bands have tried and failed miserably. Smokin Monkey got it spot on.
Does anyone know where the fluorescent vibrator came from though? Nice addition to the set up boys!!
I can't remember much more. Top, top gig boys. Well done! I will definitely be back to see you again....and I don't say that often.
Much love
ST.
PS: No gigs next weekend, does anyone else want a review?
