The Damned at the Russell Club? I went to that one.
Support was Pete Burns' band Nightmares In Wax. They played 2525.

Saw Saxon supporting Slade - we bottled them off.
Saw Def Leppard (with original, later sacked, guitarist) supporting Slade and had a good chat with them afterwards at Wolves Civic hall.

theyre one of those bands i wish could jump in a delorean and go back to the late 60s to watch them ,theres something about Creedence, i just think they are awesome, that voice especially wow

Fortunate son is may favourite, closely followed by looking out my back door, anything by them basically

the bit in Forrest Gump, when he says "they sending me to Vietnam", then it cuts to the helicopters, with fortunate son playing in the background, brilliant

My first rock gig was the Who at Charlton Athletic football ground "The Valley" in 1974. Supporting were Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Outlaws and Little Feat.
Then Black Sabbath, Hammersmith Odeon, Status Quo the same venue, Rush All The Worlds A Stage tour, Thin Lizzy, Bad Reputation tour, Yes, Santana both at Wembley Arena,Gillan after he split from Purple, Peter Gabriel and Sammy Hagar.
I also saw Iron Maiden at their first live gig at a place called the Bandwagon, a smaller version of Jilly's really,(Paul Dianno) where I also managed to meet Judas Priest, Sammy Hagar, Ted Nugent and Lemmy. Had a piss next to K.K. Downing!! Then squillions more gigs all in London. Fantastic days.

People who were young in the 70s piss me RIGHT off, they've seem loads of good stuff and probably paid about 50p for the lot. My first few gigs were nowhere near as exciting..

Muse and Elbow @ MEN
Coldplay and Doves @ MEN
Travis @ MEN
Bootleg Beatles @ The Philarmonic Hall, Liverpool
The Music @ Manc Apollo
Franz Ferdinand and The Rapture @ Liverpool Uni
Engineers @ Liverpool Barfly

Considering my taste has changed massively, none of them are too embarrassing. I'm jealous that some of you guys have seen Creedence, Dylan, and Zeppelin in their heydays.

Growing up in the 70's was great. AC/DC, with Def Leppard supporting at the Hammersmith Apollo for £2.00. Black Sabbath with Van Halen supporting £2.50. Going to see Queen at a free concert in Hyde Park, that was free surprisingly. I had a mate used to work at Wembley box office, and got us free tickets to see Yes, Quo, and Santana, all around 1977/78. Looking at some of the ticket stubs, it reminds me that EVERYTHING was promoted by Harvey Goldsmith, that guy must have made a fortune.

Oh ay,,,,let me think now,,,,

Got the chance to see all the up coming bands in Liverpool in the early 80's

i.e,,,,,Echo and the Bunnymen,, Flock Of Seagulls,,,The LA'S,,,Cook The Books,,,,O.M.D,,,,Afraid of Mice,,,China Crisis,,Teardrop Explodes,,,e.t.c

But during the 80's , i managed to see too many bands to name,,,

ranging from AC/DC,,Queen,,,Iron Maiden,,,Thin Lizzy,,,Saxon,,Dio,,
Whitesnake,,,,And many, many more
To the likes of,,,,Tangerine dream,,,,E.L.O,,,Jean Michel Jarre,,e.t.c.

I attended the likes of ,,,Knebworth,,,Glastonbury,,Monsters of Rock,,,e.t.c. God knows how i survived all of this ,,but i did!!!!

Ricardo Lancashireo... i couldnt agree more the man is a genius... The that got me aboutt he gig was when i think (i may be wrong) in Brighton Rock Brian May was doing his great big delay guitar solo jobby... but he was using a looper pedal or something simlar and he hit the boldest, most confident, convicted duff note you could ever possibly hear and it just got stuck in the loop all the way though... i felt for the poor lad... well no i didnt cos anyone who uses a loop pedal in that manor should be shot... only jokin Brians a genius also.
