I agree mkii were defineately the best...but some of the other mk's wern't too bad either.
I was impressed with them last night. They were pretty much as I expected.
Gillan isn't a young fella any more, so I went with the expectation of his vocals being well below his younger standards. But they were still very good, with only some of the very highest 'screams' a little dodgy.
Roger Glover was just awesome...a true professional as was Ian Paice.
Keys were good, a very high standard....but not a patch on Jon Lord.
Steve Morse was excellent. His solo's were fantastic and he couldn't be faulted.
All five did the whole gig with big grins on their faces and were obviously enjoying it immensely...and that flowed through to the audience too.
Best bit for me though.....it was a 'no frills' gig....no fancy laser shows or wobbly platforms to stand on...just a top quality rock band playing some top quality rock music and doing it well.

Hi. i went and echo the message above! all the songs you'd want to hear [no child in time but gillan can be forgiven for not being able to scream like that at what ?? 65??]
encores with speed king, hush and black night and as said they all looked like they were enjoying themselves.
i was persuaded to go because i at first thought no blackmore? no way!! but in steve morse they have an excellent replacement, he's obviously a blackmore fan as it shows in his style of play and lets face it blackmore once shared a stage with him which is unheard of!!

glad i went and also enjoyed the support band called the crave, kind of bryan adams meets iron maiden but a good sound.

first time i've seen purple live after being a fan from the early days :)
