God bless students

I had no idea this existsed so I shall pass on the info that some bands on here might find useful.

We got invited down by a student at SSR (School of Sound and Recording) in Manchester, near the Apollo.

Rick is a huge Metallica fan and ask if we wanted a sound engineer for our gigs......like we were going to refuse.

Anyway, he asked if we would like to take a trek down to SSR and he could use us as guinea pigs to evaluate our setup, and of course use the state of the art gear that they have down there.

So, we arrived at 12pm, he had 3 helpers, so there were 2 on the monitor desk at the side of the stage and 2 working on the main desk.
I swear to fuk, it's the biggest desk I've ever seen LOL

It was absolutely brilliant. We rang throught the set once, concentrating on the stage sound through the monitors, then a second time focusing on the FOH sound.

We felt like a proper rock band having all these guys, and girl, running about after us.

Oh as us being the usual annoying musicians constantly widdling while they are trying to do stuff.

It was a great day, for us, and for them.

Anyway, I imagine there will be a ton of students there looking to put their knowledge into practice so that may be something to keep an eye out for.
