we've had a problem with being double booked tonight as well, but I always get the venue to confirm the gig about 10 days before and then send them a poster, so we knew in advance, and decided to have a night off.

It's rotten that you went all that way though, and you missed the chance to look for something else. It's even worse because you did a charity event for them.

Yes, they are unreliable. And that DJ, can't remember his name, blasts out your whole set before, inbetween and after. Classy.

Are the do one for free / charity and we will get you a booking scam, well they booked you, usually they don't call you back.

Shame, BEWARE !

That is disgracefull, the venue should at the very least give you some expenses to cover transport, then give you another date immedietly (that is if you would want to take on another date).

I wonder if you had got there 1st & started to set up they would tell the 2nd band "Sorry doublebooked"..

I know its a pain, but after years on the club circuit confirming 7 to 10 days in advance in normal for us.
One of usually pops in with the posters & a quick call in advance to confirm what time we can get in etc

On the club circuit it is understood that if you don't confirm they will replace you.

I mate of mine was asked to sort the installed PA out at a club,( he had previously helped them out) someone at the buskers night had pulled lots of plugs and wires out and basically messed it up, it was like spaghetti junction, and it was Thursday and the club had acts booked fri,sat and Sunday, he sorted it and was asked how much, he declined payment but asked for a booking, they said they would ring him in a couple of weeks, when they start the next round of booking, no chance, he chased them up, I'll give you a call I've not forgotten, chased up again,in person, yes I've not forgotten, that was January.

He's now waiting for them to ring asking for help, you can guess his reply, yes I've got your number, I'll get back to you.
