on NWB's announcement
NWB has been a fantastic resource.
It's no secret that I would have preferred a more disciplined ship, in line with more professionally run forums, and I don't think many of us will miss the vapid bully boys and what they think is banter but the rest of us know is just the schoolyard loudmouth.
As the years have passed though, our business has grown along side NWB and while we hardly benefited directly from it's existence it has been nice to try and put something back into a community, where we can. And to make some friends along the way.
In fact I have a handful of lifelong friends that I may not have come across if it were not for NWB.
maybe 7 or 8 years ago i set off looking for gigs to watch and NWB was a good starting point for a week's gig-going.
as the years passed we put a badge on our own endeavours, called it a business and checked back here less. This last 12 months have been particularly busy for us, too busy to check out other people's gigs any longer but i still try and check in a few times a week, if I can.
Incidentally, if anyone still needs to pick the inside of my brains, you can still ask around to track me down and S&L Productions have had a page on facebook for a while now, with a message facility.
that's not the purpose of this post though.
if there is a future NWB in some shape, i would like to continue to make a contribution. And that's really the point that all the back biting is done and the vapid bully boys return to dust (or their bar stool) - I am happy to have made a small contribution, to the regions musical community.
NWB has made a much larger, possibly incalculable contribution, to the community, to individuals and to friendships.
As I said , without NWB, I probably wouldn't have forged certain friendships and for me that's NWB's lasting contribution.
So thank you NWB - for making a difference.
