Well .......... not really surprised that he has not yet re-joined .......

I know that this site is in its infancy, but the old site did work well, gave really good exposure to all types of bands and their music via the Charts plus all the other features that were on it and was good to view and really furthered the cause of LIVE Music, as yet this site has not risen to the previous dizzy heights of the old site ..... so maybe that could be the reason ????

PLEASE NOTE; THIS IS NOT A CRITICISM OF PAUL (Or his Dear Wife) THE GUY SHOULD BE APPLAUDED FOR ALL THE EFFORT HE PUTS IN ON BANDS BEHALFS, BUT I SOMETIMES WONDER THAT IF IT AINT BROKE ... WHY FIX IT ???

Regards

G

Howdy G, Cheers for your comments.

To clarify, the old site was broke, and needed fixing. It may not have looked like it from the external view, but the internal workings were a nightmare for me and mrs.nwb to maintain. With the new site a lot of the features no longer need me tinkering with the database.

One noticeable "headache removal" is that the gigs no longer need admin approval and go straight live to the site. I have an array of administrators who can then delete/amened duplicate gigs as and when they come up.

Like I say, you might not be able to "SEE" any improvements, buy behind the scenes the whole thing is a lot easier to manage.

I look forward to Dyehouses return, but I'd welcome him on board just to show a bit of support in the early NWB stages.

Hi Paul !!!!

Thanks for the reply !!!!

I understand what you mean .... from where I sit the old site looked good, but you have the inside view and know whats going on etc etc so I can understand your points ....... guess I'm just a bit impatient after you spoiled us all with the old site as in my view it was one of the best real band sites that I have come across, lots going on, people talking to each other, making contacts, really promoting LIVE MUSIC etc etc ....ohhhh and the ever changing weekly charts too !!! (BRING EM BACK PLEASE PAUL !!!), AS I SAID, ONE OF THE BEST SITES !!! but I guess you'll get there with this site too !!!

Ohhh and I'm likely to see Gordon on my travels soon so I'll mention it to him !!!!

BTW ...... will the bands be able to put their music onto this site as previously ??

Cheers

G

The aim is to make this site just as good as the previous one. We were releasing this site in beta mode not expecting so many people to sign up as soon as they did, we couln't believe all the people signing up and the amount of blogs that have been posted, it's great!

Paul is having to recode everything so have no fear - it will all be back eventually, it's just as he said - everything got a bit mixed up - 'behing the scenes' got a bit tangled so we're just untying the knots :-) We are planning on releasing new features every week or so to keep it fresh and keep people interested!

And yes the music player (and the chart too i expect) will be back, can't wait for that!

Hope that answers what you wanted to know :-)

One new feature is the 'Repertoire' - you should upload yours :-) It's interesting to see which bands play which songs!

As for the "Repertoire" .......... errrrrrrrr wots that ??????

Repertoire - is a list of songs that you CAN play, whereas a "set list" is a selection of songs from your Repertoire that you play at gigs.

You'll soon be able to contruct setlists derived from your Repertoire.

with some bands i've seen over the years a "set list" is a selection of songs they THINK they CAN play at a gig...but can't!!!

Not getting posh.. just clarifying the differences.

Ohh btw,. you should shortly be able to start "making friends" which each other. So that means the profile comments feature will be making a welcomed return shortly.
