I waited 20 years from 1978 (after hearing Lights Out (SITN) on the friday rock show a week ahead of release) to see the classic line up playing the classic set at the Apollo). Of course I loved MSG (until Bonnet) but I always preffered UFO - something about the sum of the parts...
Anyhow, it was the night after a blazing row with Moggy and he was plastered from the off, fluffed every solo and they halted the set after I think, 40 odd minutes to boos all round. A send end and a childhood dream shattered.
Never touched him since....

I think many many people felt the same way dude, hence him playing at Academy 3 in front of around 200 punters and a lot of them were mates of FURY UK it has to be said!

Aa I remember, a band I was in had the same management as the Scorpions back in the 70's. We had to dep for them when he went missing for 2 weeks, and he was eventually found sitting in his car by the police in Munich.

lol - Grooverman. My memories hazy but I think Manchester was only two or three dates in & it was a small tour anyway. Other than rehearsal him & Moggy hadn't been in the same room - the album (walk on water?) was recorded in separate countries. Anyway, after the gig the night before the apollo they were having a blazing ruck backstafe & Nigel Mogg (Quireboys - Phil's cousin?) floored Schenks with an overhand right...

the tour before that to where they initially got back together was really good, think it was 1998, we met Shenks afterwards and he was sober as a judge, he gave me a load of signed stuff for a "Rock against Cancer" event we organised, on form he is a towering figure in rock guitar playing. I once met phil Mogg and i got drunk just of his Breath.

I am hearing rumours he has cancelled rest of thr tour for LOGISTICAL reasons? Hope it isn't true as this would be the final straw for most fans!
