Amazon @ 29p does it count????

There's ongoing debate about whether purchasing from Amazon counts towards the chart??
Amazon are claiming it does but others say it doesn't!
The Facebook page which started the whole ball rolling has been deleted by Facebook??
maybe Simon Cowel has a piece of that too?
Before it was deleted, it stated that any online purchase below 49p does not count towards the chart!
Other news bulletins I have read on the subject appear to back this up!

So if you really want to make a stand against The Simon Cowel machine that is crippling original new music coming through, It would be advisable to pay at least 49p for the track or your stance could be in vein?

What a load of bollox innit. If you legally download and pay for it, surely it shouldn't matter how much you paid. It's a legal bloody download FFS.

Martin Lewis (money saving expert), was on the telly, and said it does count towards the chart.

He also said it in his weekly email too.

I think its the value at which Amazon bought the mp3 for... they are allowed to resell it for less, as a loss leader.

"29p MP3 singles: X-factor Joe's & anti-X Rage Against The Machine
The battle for Xmas no.1 is on. The TuneChecker's most searched chart has Joe no.1 & Rage no.2
Don't pay iTunes' 99p, get Joe McElderry 29p or Rage 29p (it counts for charts), see Tunechecker.com or X-battle news "

I'm not putting a brass rabbit poo into that until I see the proof that RATM are giving their proceeds to charity.

@Bad Horse

I dont think RATM are giving any money to charity.

It was the facebook page that had a link to donate to some homeless charity. Although I could be wrong.

@ Mr nwb; Think you are right there, it was the facebook page. Don't think RATM are involved in setting this up, just someone thought that would be a good xmas No1 instead of xfactor again.

does it really matter a \fcuk\ ? can't understand why folk are 'up in arms' about any of this....every band, promoter, venue, tv show etc etc does it for their own reasons.....as do all of us....why should anyone else think 'this is wrong', 'this is right?' ffs each to their own

I owned a small label 3 years ago and at that time any purchase of a downloadable single sold for less that 99p didn't go towards the charts. Maybe it's changed?

on rock radio they said several times that the amazon download DOES NOT count, also tom morello apparently also said that any money made from the downloads would go to a charity to help musicians starting off!! or somethin similar. these 2 things have been mentioned on rock radio several times! so im just passing on wot ive heard! anything that keeps the same type of thing bein no 1 year after year im up for! other wise its no fun i reckon. craig

Simon Cowell has reportedly contacted the organisers of the facebook site and thanked them for making this year the best contest in ages for the xmas no.1 slot. What's with the sudden turnaround? Mmmmm..... I think he knows something that the rest of us don't....something to do with a back-hander perhaps???
