Bass player in the bizarrely named piggery bandana- 40 + years old been playing bass for 27 years (some of them quite proficiently - most of them like a slovenly rock demi god). Tried to make the big time several times and have come to the conclusion that talent/ability/intelligence and good tunes will never defeat the right face/the right time and thick as two short planks for getting a record contract. Spent too many years playing ronan keating to pensioners on the cabaret circuit until finally i snapped!!! My good friends from Piggery talked me down from the church tower where i was taking aim with my high powered rifle and promised me that we would be a band that played music that we liked first and foremost, if the audience got it then fair enough and fair play to em as well. This all happened and, might be a cliche, but i reckon we are the happiest band doing the rounds...... we would certainly take the pepsi challenge with anybody that we are the daftest! So there you go ...in a nutshell Piggery Bandana 'The Happy and Daft Band'.
About the band:- Dave is a salesman by day and is the high pitched warbler by night .... we keep testing him with higher and higher pitched stuff and he simply tightens the elastic bands on his scrotum and gets on with it (A trooper)... Rich tinkles the ivories in his spare time when he isnt destroying the economy (Hes in banking apparently!) - He can read music and speak latin .. its just womens emotions he struggles with (average bloke then!) ... Lee is the string bender and would talk a glass eye into submission, he talks like yngwie malmsteen plays notes in a solo .... Hes not happy unless he is chatting at 140 bpm in 12:8 time using 32nd notes. Anthony C the drummer is a beast/rotter/cad who pulls puppies heads off and washes his car with baby kittens .... he apparently has a nice smile and beautiful eyes (but they said that about ted bundy!) and me ???? I'm Mark the bassist and I'm a guy, who by rights should have had his head caved in many many more times than has actually happened, I like to think its because Im imposing and scary looking... In actual fact I think people look at me and think christ! we cant do worse to him than mother nature has already done.
We are all in our 40's and love what we do ...... Our set list is specialized for one really good reason ... "Do you want to see the same set of songs week after week, played by similar sounding bands?" If the answer is yes then we aint your band.....We put a lot of thought into this set and the stuff likely to appear in the future and decided to play summat different, dont get us wrong there are some classics in there, they just arent the classics that other bands tend to do. Why???? Some of em can't, some of take an easier option, some watch what other bands do to form a set list.... We aint doing this to pay the mortgage, we do this as a hobby and as such the first people we wanna entertain is ourselves and if we do that right then the audience SHOULD! be entertained as well.
